➡️ Here, I’m assisting a student with a high right shoulder and right C-curve, to do a prone one arm push through

➡️ It’s very important to first stretch the tight muscles, such as the right pectorals and upper trapezius, before attempting the overhead reach. these overworked muscles have formed a physiologically inefficient movement pattern, due to the spinal curvature. (Stretches were performed before this exercise, and aren’t shown here)

➡️ Then, the student must find a “new way” to stretch the arm overhead, WITHOUT immediately elevating the upper shoulder and “winging” the scapula to raise the arm, which is the habitual, inefficient pattern

➡️ It’s vital to keep the spring light, perform NO MORE than 3-5 reps, and Limit the Range of motion, so the body can habituate to the new, more efficient movement pattern.
