WHAT IT IS, WHAT IT DOES
Based on Carola Trier's Book
At the 2016 Meeting of Pilates Method Alliance
Even now, many Pilates teachers have never heard of Carola Trier, the very first teacher trained by Joseph Pilates. Carola not only opened the first New York City studio to offer Body Contrology (after Joe), but she wrote a wonderful little book for children in 1982. Exercise — What it is, What it Does is a beautifully written, precisely illustrated volume, and it contains fantastic exercises, advice, and imagery for anyone, young or old, wishing to learn more about exercise.
Sadly, Carola’s book has been out of print for many years, so this workshop is your unique opportunity to share in a first-generation master teacher's wisdom, instruction and humor! Jillian Hessel taught for Carola during the writing and publication of the book.
Millions of adults are living with scoliosis, or other postural imbalances caused by injury, de-conditioned muscles, chronic condition, or poor posture. More likely than not, you have encountered clients with these conditions. Deepen your understanding of scoliosis and other postural abnormalities, while learning remedial and modified Pilates exercises for the Mat, Reformer, Wunda Chair, and Cadillac. Living with scoliosis herself, Jillian’s intimate knowledge of, and experience with, these modifications is unsurpassed.

PASSING THE TORCH™
Balanced Body Pilates Teacher
2016 Mentoring Program
Master Teacher Jillian Hessel
Beverly Hills, California
I am thrilled to have been selected by Balanced Body as a Faculty Member for their 2016 Passing the Torch Program. I taught the program in 2014 and 2015, and many students have expressed interest in taking the program this year. So if you're a Certified Pilates Teacher searching for an in-depth training experience with me, 2016 is the year!
The best part is:
The program is small (only 4–8 students).
We can customize it according to your individual needs.
YOU can request the course of study! For example, one student from Japan who attended the March 2014 course suggested that I share some of Carola Trier's "special dancer exercises" and "corrective exercise techniques."
