Scoliosis x-ray

1509 N. Crescent Heights, Suite 8
West Hollywood, CA 90046

Attend this 3-part series of Scoliosis Workshop Intensives with Acclaimed Pilates Teacher Jillian Hessel.

Millions of adults are living with scoliosis, and more likely than not you have encountered a client with this condition. Deepen your understanding of scoliosis while learning remedial and modified Pilates exercises for the Mat, Reformer, Wunda Chair, and Cadillac. Living with scoliosis herself, Jillian's intimate knowledge of, and experience with, these modifications is unsurpassed.

Workshop #1

The first workshop focuses on Pre-Pilates Fundamentals to help raise the client's awareness of his/her muscular imbalances. We practice specific breathing patterns and target altered muscle recruitment aimed at balancing out the uneven muscular development seen in scoliosis. We then move onto the Reformer to practice unilateral exercises against spring resistance.

Sunday, October 5, 2008
10:00 A.M. - 4:30 P.M.

Workshop #2

This second workshop in an ongoing series will focus on exercises performed on the Cadillac that have been modified specifically for clients with postural and muscular imbalances and/or scoliosis. Workshop #2 will also delve more deeply into the "hands on" assistance and mental imagery necessary to help clients absorb and internalize the corrective adjustments.

We will start Workshop #2 with a 1½-hour Mat Class that will also serve as an "active review" of the Fundamentals covered in Workshop #1. Mat Class will provide all participants an opportunity to warm up, move, and integrate the corrective exercises into their own bodies. We will then progress onto the Cadillac, and spend the rest of the morning & afternoon sessions exploring the exercises, the imagery and the one-on-one "hands on" partnering techniques.

Workshop #3

[Note: Workshops #3 in this series was presented in 2009.]

This course will be conducted using the new, lightweight Pilates Arc created in 2007 by Balanced Body, Inc.
